Sighing

The Spirit has impressed upon my heart the “sighing” of the soul.

In Psalm 5 “Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my sighing (meditation).” Psalm 5:1
NIV
David prayed that God would be attentive to his prayer. He was about to express his desire. He intended to express only what he wished to be granted. Yet, this prayer goes beyond the mere expression of human language. We naturally incline our ear to anyone we wish to hear in order to hear distinctly what he is saying. But what about the secret longings which words cannot express?

Consider = to understand, perceive.
Sighing = an internal emotion; a fervent, ardent feeling

Jesus confirms that David, “speaking by the Spirit” Matthew 22:43, was deeply inspired to pursue the Lord with all his heart. He writes this prayer in Psalm 5 that God would attend to the whole desires of his soul – whether expressed or unexpressed by his words. Though his words were sincere and truthful, they could not convey all his desires. Therefore, to “consider my sighing” was to consider the deep and unexpressed desires of the soul.

Combining these two phrases to help us in our prayer times realizing we have no one else to turn to but the Lord. We will invoke His hearing with words that can be uttered and words that cannot be uttered. Romans 8:26. Let the Holy Spirit speak through you as he did through the Psalmist.

Make your prayer honest and personal as the Psalmist did when he wrote, “my words”, “my sighing”. God will give you His ear. He will consider your sighing. Then praise Him declaring, “O Lord, my King and my God”.

What a friend we have in Jesus,

Living Water will Flow

John 7:38 NIV
"Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said,
rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

Thinking about this verse and prayer.....

Our gracious and blessed Lord Jesus is calling us to believe in Him.
This is an open invitation to all of us.  Believing in Him is more than
believing He exists and that He is in heaven somewhere.
Believing in Jesus means ABIDING in Jesus.

Whosoever will abide in Him will also be satisfied with His Holy Spirit.

Rivers of living water is the Spirit of Christ keeping us alive unto God.
Our conscience, our intellect, our emotions, our volition are fed by the

rivers of living water flowing within us. Therein lies perfect peace and rest, assurance and security this world cannot give. Nor can it take away unless
we give in. No, greater is He that is within us.

“From within them” is as personal as one can get. When the Holy Spirit flows within you, like Paul, you will abide in Joy and Righteousness no matter how trying the circumstances may be.

“From within them” changes your outlook. You always see things better
when gladness, goodness and godliness are streaming through your heart. When things are right within us, then we can make things right around us.
That’s when prayer is fueled and released for God’s glory.

The Holy Spirit knows how to pray. Practice with your Partner.
Pray in the Spirit in the Name of Christ. When you pray let the rivers of
living water flow within you. Then rejoice.
I mean rejoice as clamorously as you can. Rejoice in the streams of refreshing.
Rejoice in the Lord and in the power of His inseparable love for you.
